£500 for 500 Scallops - Terms & Conditions
The £500 for 500 Scallops scheme is designed to support fishermen in adopting scallop potting and to ensure a consistent, scalable supply of pot-caught scallops. Below are the key terms and conditions:
1. Price & Payment
-
We will pay £1 per scallop, regardless of size, provided scallops meet the legal landing size for king scallops (100mm minimum shell length).
-
Payment is only guaranteed when 500 scallops are supplied together in a single batch. Smaller quantities will not be eligible for this scheme.
-
Any quantities over 500 scallops will be priced at £1 per scallop. For example, 534 scallops = £534. There is no upper limit, provided all scallops meet the eligibility criteria.
2. Catch Method & Integrity
-
Only pot-caught scallops (harvested using the approved pot and light method) are accepted.
-
We operate on a "one strike and you’re out" policy:
-
If any dredged or hand-dived scallops are supplied under this scheme, the supplier will be permanently removed from our supplier list.
-
Our processing team can identify non-pot-caught scallops, and any misrepresentation will result in immediate exclusion.
-
3. Supply Chain & Logistics
-
The 500 scallop minimum is in place to allow for efficient logistics and collection.
-
Fishermen are encouraged to work together to pool scallops if they do not have 500 individually.
4. Consistency & Long-Term Viability
-
We recognise that scallop sizes fluctuate throughout the year, so the £1 per scallop price remains fixed to offer stability to fishermen.
-
This scheme is designed to build a sustainable pot-caught scallop fishery: by participating, you’re part of something bigger.
